The collection is strongest in New World species but also has substantial holdings from Africa and Madagascar, Europe, the former Soviet Union, and South East Asia. The Library archives and preserves an exhaustive sampling of the behaviors of each animal species using digital video and audio recordings.</abstract>

<abstract>eBird is a North American Checklist program developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon. The goal of eBird is to engage bird watchers to participate in a protocol driven checklist program. Started in Oct 2002, eBird provides a place-based characterization of a given area through a checklist of birds observed at that location. Presently, eBird collects between 50 and 70 thousand checklists annually from Mexico, United States, and Canada.</abstract>

<abstract>The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is a late winter weekend survey of bird populations across the United States and Canada. Developed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon, the GBBC engages tens of thousands of participants. Data is collected with postal code or town geographical resolution. Started in 1998, the GBBC provides a place-based characterization of a given area through a checklist of birds observed at that location. Presently, GBBC collects approximately 50 thousand checklists annually during a 4-day period in mid-February.</abstract>
