<abstract>The Foraminiferal Collection has more than 13000 slides with planktonic and benthic foraminifers, both recent and fossil, from all over the world, including oceanic and continental deposits. The emphasis is on the Cenozoic, mainly on Quaternary deposits. Around 30% of the Collection corresponds to specimens from the Atlantic Ocean, and about 25% to specimens from samples retrieved by the Deep Sea Drilling Project and the Ocean Drilling Program. The Collection has 47 holotypes and 88 slides with paratypes of species and subspecies described mainly by Argentine researchers.</abstract>

<abstract>La colección incluye material estudiado por importantes especialistas argentinos, como Irene Bernasconi, Max Birabén, Isabel Hylton Scott, Alberto Carcelles, Martín Doello-Jurado, etc. y contiene numerosos ejemplares obtenidos durante campañas antárticas así también como material de la colección Holmberg. Es la colección de invertebrados más importante de Argentina y una de las colecciones de moluscos más importantes de América Latina. Cuenta hoy con más de 35.000 lotes (la mayoría conteniendo numerosos individuos) de todos los tipos de invertebrados, exceptuando artrópodos terrestres. Los moluscos son el principal grupo representado, constituyendo más del 50 % de los ejemplares.</abstract>
